GemEx created has a process to engrave images into the table of a diamond. This creates a situation where any diamond can now become an instant heirloom. GemEx has engraved many images into diamonds for people all over the world. These engravings are as varied as the customers are themselves. Occasions that were once only celebrated with Memori diamonds.
Gem Ex has engraved images of newborns and mothers (‘push presents’). Engagements, weddings, birthdays, children, grandchildren, and other loved ones, graduations, & more. We have engraved images of loved ones who have passed, and even pets that have passed. The possibilities are endless.
The images on the diamond are invisible to the naked eye of most people, but can be seem with a jeweler’s loupe, with the GemEx supplied consumer viewer, and also with the camera of a phone using the GemEx iPhone/iPad application.

HOW IS THIS DONE?
We use what is called Focus ION Beam. Some have tried to use Lasers. However, Lasers burn the surface, and will cause the surface to show black burn marks (just like girdle engraving).
We start with a high powered source that generates Metal IONS (IONs are positively charged molecules). The Beam tube accelerates the particles into a stream that is aimed at the surface of the diamond. When the ION stream impacts the diamond surface, atoms of diamonds are broke free from the surface and are carried away.
If the beam was allowed to just run in place, it would act like a drill and continue to “oblate” diamond atoms. This beam is then moved with the powerful deflection magnets surrounding the Beam tube. They are aimed and moved across the surface, adjusting strength and direction.
